Preparing for surgery and rehabilitating afterwards are both areas where physiotherapy makes a measurable difference. That includes joint replacements, shoulder and knee reconstructions, spinal surgery and arthroscopic procedures.
How well you recover after surgery depends heavily on the strength and movement you go in with. Prehabilitation builds that capacity beforehand, which typically means a shorter recovery and a better result. Afterwards, tissue healing follows a timeline, and progressing too quickly or too slowly both cause problems.
Before surgery we build strength and movement in the area and around it, and make sure you know what to expect. Afterwards we work within your surgeon's protocol, restoring range, rebuilding strength progressively, and guiding your return to work, training or sport at a pace the healing tissue can handle.
Not sure if this is what you have? An initial assessment works that out before deciding how to treat it.
